Spanish passport & Schengen visa photos in Tucson, AZ
If you are applying from Arizona, the size is not what you would expect.
Here is the thing almost nobody gets right about Spanish visas from Arizona. Applications from this state go through the Consulate General of Spain in Los Angeles, processed by BLS International — and that office requires two 2×2 inch photos on a white background. That is US passport size, not the 35×45mm used for most European visas.
Assume "Spain is in Europe, so it must be the European size" and your application comes back incomplete. Separately, if you are applying for a Spanish passport or DNI rather than a visa, the size changes again — those are 32×26mm on a plain white background. Tell us which document you are applying for and we will shoot the right one.
Spanish visa & passport photo requirements

| Visa photo size (from Arizona) | 2×2 inches (51×51mm) — US passport size |
|---|---|
| Visa prints required | 2 recent photos |
| Visa background | White, so features contrast clearly |
| Expression | Full face, facing forward, not smiling |
| Glasses | No dark or reflective lenses; nothing concealing the oval of the face |
| Head coverings | Not permitted except for religious or ethnic reasons |
| Photo age | Taken within the last 6 months |
| Reuse | Must not be a photo already used in your passport |
| Spanish passport / DNI | 32×26mm on a plain white background — a different size entirely |
What gets these photos rejected
- Spanish visas from Arizona use US 2×2 inch photos, not 35×45mm. This is the single biggest Spain mistake.
- Two photos, not one.
- The photo must not have been used in your passport previously.
- A Spanish passport or national ID card uses 32×26mm — smaller than both the visa and the European standard.
- Photos of babies and toddlers must not show any part of the adult holding them.
